August 1st, 2017 is coming up quickly and it’s an important date for the Placerville Police Department and the members of our community. The first Tuesday in August every year is National Night Out, a campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live. Placerville has ranked #1 in California for four years in a row and we are looking to claim the national title this year!
The Placerville Police Department is looking for volunteers to make this year the most successful National Night Out yet. You can help the cause by either hosting an event in your neighborhood or volunteering for the planning and day of events. If your neighborhood is within the Placerville City limits, you and your neighbors can have a free, old fashioned, National Night Out Block Party. Food and drinks are supplied through the National Night Out donors. Volunteers are always needed to help out with the 4 large venues in the city which include: M.O.R.E Rehabilitation, the Library in Placerville, Benham Park and Grocery Outlet Parking lot. All four venues have fun activities for families to meet Placerville dignitaries, local police officers and emergency first responders. We are also looking for any performers that may want to entertain people at our large venues.
Your time could go a long way in the fight against crime. For more information on NNO or to complete a volunteer form, check our website at www.placervillepd.com or contact Community Service Officer Carol Nolan at (530)642-5210 or email cnolan@cityofplacerville.org.
