EDHAA Presidents Message for March & April 2017. President’s Message:
I am excited to write my 2nd President's Message with the sun shining and beautiful blue clouds outside my window. Even though our wet and snowy weather has been a blessing, I am hoping the majority of our rainy season is behind us. It is now time to look towards the spring and summer to various types of wonderful art events and opportunities. If you have not done much of your art while the weather was nasty then it is time to get busy. I know - personally - I have not done any art over the past few months. We recently sold our home and spent two months in a "farm house" rental and are just now getting settled in our new home. So I am eager to get my studio in order and get back to work.
As most of you know, the Studio Tour Committee has been busy working on all of the necessary tasks that make our tour successful for each artist. This year we will have 38 artists at 13 different studios and our month long viewing show at Gallery 48 in Folsom. Some of the key dates and information are outlined later in this newsletter for anyone participating in the Studio Tour. If you are not participating this year, I would like to offer you an opportunity to be a greeter at any one of the studios. This is a great experience for anyone that wants to learn more about how a show like this works and also help out the artists at their studio. The role would be to greet all folks coming in and give them a little information about the tour and the artists at their particular studio and gather some data such as how someone found out about the Studio Tour. A role like this is very helpful for the artists and allows them to focus more on interacting with potential customers about their art. If you are interested in helping out as a greeter, please contact me directly.
Almost immediately after our May Studio Tour, EDHAA will sponsor the membership show at Harris Center in Folsom. A call for artist with key dates will be forth coming. This is a wonderful opportunity for any member to submit at least one piece of art for display and sale at the gallery in the Harris Center. There will also be a reception with awards for various art mediums.
We are looking forward to our March and April artist presenters. In March, we will enter the world of encaustics with Suzanne Belle and in April our own Jimmie Grann will share her talents from her pastel paintings. Both will be very good presentations - please don't miss either one. For anyone participating in the Studio Tour, both March and April General Meetings are important months for you as well. In March, James Canning will have hard copies of ST brochure for you to review and in April's meeting the brochures will be available for pick-up.
Also in our March meeting I am looking forward to seeing many of the artist's rendition of the florals given out for the newest Art Challenge. It is always fun to see different artist's interpretations of the challenges.
And finally I would like to welcome a few new members that we met at our last general meeting, Karen Kreuger, Ann Hoffman and Don Lawson. Welcome to EDHAA and we look forward to working with all of you.

Important Studio Tour Dates
Studio Tour - May 20 and 21, 2017
For all Studio Tour Artists - Here are some important dates for the 2017 Studio Tour:
- March 13th General Meeting - review hard copy of brochure at meeting
- March 24th - Call for Artists sent out for participation at Gallery 48
- April 10th General Meeting - pick up brochures at meeting
- May 1st - artists participating at Gallery 48 need to drop of art (more information will be in Call to Artist coming out march 24th)
- May 8th General Meeting - pick up studio signs and each participating artists bring 1 to 2 pieces to meeting to share with members.
- May 19th, 6-8PM art reception at Gallery 48
- May 20th and 21st, 10-5PM Studio Tour
Announcements:
- We are looking for artists who are willing to let other artists borrow their display supports or tent for the Studio Tour. Please contact : Joey Cattone atjoeycattone@comcast.net
- We are also asking for volunteers to be greeters at various studios during the Studio Tour. If you are interested in participating as a greeter, please let Lynne Edwards know as soon as possible.
- March Art Challenge…be sure to bring your flower inspired pieces to the March meeting.
