Placerville Man on Spring Street is Shot by Two Armed Intruders

Placerville, CA – Two masked subjects entered a Placerville home and shot a resident as he was fleeing. Placerville Police Officers responded to a call of a shooting in the area of the 700 block of Spring Street on January 9, 2020 at 11:02 pm. When officers arrived at the scene they encountered four male subjects advising that one of them had been shot by two intruders.

The witnesses told officers that they were inside the residence when there was a knock on the door. One of the residents opened the door and two masked subjects entered the residence. Another one of the residents attempted to flee through a window. The suspects exited the residence and encountered the fleeing resident around the backside of the house. The resident was shot at twice and then the suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.

El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies and a K-9 unit arrived on scene to assist in the search for the suspects. No weapons or suspects were located.

The victim was transported to a hospital and treated for a gunshot wound. Due to the active investigation, the victim’s name is not being released at this time.

One suspect was described as a male wearing a blue ski mask, holding a handgun. The other suspect was described as a male wearing a black or blue ski mask. Other clothing described was a dark colored hooded flannel shirt and blue jeans. Both suspects were approximately 5’8” to 5’9” with a skinny build.

Based on investigative leads and witness statements, it appears the victims may have known the suspects and were specifically targeted. Placerville Police is asking for anyone who has information related to this incident to contact Det. Luke Gadow at (530) 642-5210 ext. 116.
