On September 10, 2019 at El Dorado High School, the El Dorado Union High School District, community leaders and students flipped the switch on a massive new solar energy project designed to save the district money and give students a brighter future.
The program, which has installations at each of the high school campuses will generate over 5 million kwh of green electricity in its first year and offset more than 3600 metric tons of carbon.

0:16 just from the establishment of this program.
0:17 Approximately 12.8 million dollars.
0:20 The money saved can be used to positively
0:22 impact and enrich our educational experiences.
0:25- Not only are we helping the environment,
0:27 but in edition, we're specifically able to
0:29 capture dollars that we put in to programs for students.
0:32- It's been our vision to keep moving this district
0:35 forward as fast as we can and as well as we can.
0:38 And this is part of that vision.
0:39- With our new cleaner energy system, El Dorado High School
0:42 is not only benefiting the here and the now,
0:44 but the generations to come.

0:48 five million kilowatt hours of
0:49 green electricity in its first year.
0:51 And offset more than 36 hundred metric tons of carbon.
