South Lake Tahoe, CA- City Council and the public looked on as “Rocky,” a new police K9, was sworn in at the City Council meeting on August 20th. K9 Rocky and his handler, Officer Cory Wilson, completed three months of training and recently became a California POST certified K9 team.
“The K9’s are an invaluable tool for the police department and our community,” said Police Chief Brian Uhler, “The save officers time, give early warnings if situations get dangerous, and most importantly they save lives.”
Rocky was made possible thanks to a generous $50,000 donation from Lisa Maloff to the South Lake Tahoe Police Canine Association.
Mrs. Maloff got to meet K9 Rocky and Officer Wilson on August 13 when they visited her at her home.
K9 Rocky and Officer Wilson are now on patrol at the Police Department. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is grateful to Mrs. Maloff for her support and assistance in getting this K9 team in service and helping make South Lake Tahoe a safer place.
