Off-highway vehicles are loads of fun, but make sure to ride them responsibly. This morning we had three young men trying to ride on a two-seat Polaris Razor. The young man who drew the short straw (figuratively) was holding on to the back and not in a seat. He was at least wearing a helmet...
He was thrown when they hit a tree and was injured bad enough that he got a helicopter ride to the hospital with REACH Air Medical Services. It isn’t the cool kind of ride though. He didn’t get to take selfies with the crew, take pictures of the scenery or wear a headset and listen to the pilot lingo. He was strapped to a backboard with a neck brace getting poked and prodded.
He will at least be ok. Hopefully having learned a valuable lesson.
Don’t get overly confident with off-road vehicles. The terrain can surprise you. Always wear safety equipment and sit in the seats as intended.
