The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and other agencies in the county have been responding to and investigating multiple bomb threats at businesses and government facilities. We also received information that law enforcement agencies throughout the Sacramento area are receiving similar calls for service.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation in cooperation with CalOES Law Branch notified us that this is a nationwide email hoax. If you received one of these emails threatening an explosive device and requesting "bitcoin" payment, please report it to the Sheriff's Office.
It has been determined these are a series of hoax emails nationwide.
