California -  Republican Judge Steven Bailey (Ret.) will face off against Democrat  Xavier Becerra in the General Election for California Attorney General. With 25.3% of the vote, Bailey came in ahead of Democrat Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones and Republican attorney Eric Early to advance to the general election against the appointed incumbent.

Judge Bailey thanked his supporters at an Election Night Party in Folsom saying, "Our volunteers and supporters represent the beating heart of California." He continued, "Our campaign has been entirely fueled by grassroots support since the beginning and it has always been your enthusiasm, your energy, that kept us going."

Bailey, the only candidate with a background and expertise in criminal law, promises to bring a fair and impartial approach to the Attorney General’s office and refocus the state’s top law enforcement position on reducing crime. "We have accomplished every goal we set out to accomplish so far and tonight's result is further confirmation that voters are fired up and ready to take California in a different direction — toward safer neighborhoods for our families and bringing the full weight of the justice system against violent criminals."

"We're looking forward to a robust debate on the issues," says Campaign Manager Jason Scalese. "We are going to keep fighting for the hard-working, tax-paying citizens and families of this state and we will win because we are focused on the issues and the problems they face every day."

"While the current Attorney General has focused on fighting Washington, crime has increased, homelessness has reached record levels, and drug abuse has taken more lives, but he has been absent on all of these issues," stated Bailey. "It is time for an Attorney General who is focused on solving problems here in California —someone who will stop the unconstitutional sanctuary state, prevent the early release of violent career criminals, and provide fair and honest ballot titles and summaries for initiatives and referendums."

"With the support of the Los Angeles Police Protective League and Crime Victims United, I look forward to laying out my vision for the office of Attorney General against the aggressively partisan posture of the current Attorney General," said Bailey. "As Attorney General, I will make protecting California families my first and only priority."

Judge Steven Bailey (Ret.) is the only candidate with a background and expertise in criminal law. He was an elected Superior Court Judge in El Dorado County for 8½ years, where he had assignments in criminal, civil, probate, and juvenile cases and served 4 years as the Presiding Juvenile Judge.

Prior to the bench, he was in private practice handling criminal and administrative law for 19 years and was a Certified Criminal Law Specialist, certified by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. He was also Deputy Director in charge of Legislation for the California Department of Social Services under Governor George Deukmejian.

Judge Bailey has been endorsed by the California Republican Party, the NRA, Gun Owners of California, Crime Victims United, and the Los Angeles Police Protective League, in addition to numerous county sheriffs, DAs, state legislators, and local leaders throughout California.
