John Cameron, will be the guest speaker at the El Dorado County State of Jefferson (SOJ) meeting, on Tuesday, June 12, at the American Legion Hall, 4561 Greenstone Road, in Placerville. SOJ meetings are open to the public and admission is free. Social Hour is from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, allowing time to visit with committee members and also featuring this month, Tuesday Taco Night, that includes rice & beans, beverages and desserts. The meeting, with speaker, begins at 6:30.
Since 1973, Pacific Legal Foundation (PLF) has successfully litigated for limited government, private property rights and free enterprise, in the nations highest courts, PLF has had 9 victories in their 11 cases heard before the U.S. Supreme Court.
John Cameron is PLF's Liberty Society Manager. While he found he could handle the long hours, his competition and even the vagaries of the economy, what frustrated John the most, often making him feel powerless, was the massive government intrusion into his life and the lives of his clients – what John calls the administrative state.
John became more and more bitter about this and felt compelled to do something about this massive government overreach. When the opportunity to work as a developmental officer for Pacific Legal Foundation came along, he grabbed it. John says, “now as Liberty Society Manager for PLF, I have a wonderful opportunity to …...support and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
State of Jefferson meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month, same date time and location. The SOJ committee continues to bring informative guest speakers, regarding issues critical to residents & business owners who make California their home. John Cameron and his associate will touch on regulatory issues and property rights, as well as some of PLF's historic cases.
Next month, instead of its regular meeting, on July 12th, the State of Jefferson will host the First Annual Business Showcase and Fundraiser, with El Dorado County businesses displaying the many goods and services they offer. In addition, there will be silent & live auctions and games, with prizes that include dinner with Sheriff John & wife Janine D'Agostini, 4 Oakland A's Box Seat Tickets, Gun Safe, and many more prizes. The event will be from 4 to 8 pm, with food, beer & wine, and fun for the whole family.
