El Dorado County Sheriff John D’Agostini announced his endorsement of Mike Owen, a candidate for El Dorado County Auditor-Controller in the June 2018 election.
“A change of leadership is desperately needed in the Office of Auditor-Controller,” D’Agostini said. “Eight years ago, the people of this county took a chance on me. I am now urging you to take that same chance on Mike Owen. Other senior members of the law enforcement community including former Sheriff Hal Barker and current and former Undersheriffs Randy Peshon and Rich Williams are joining me in this call for voters to bring in Owen with his strong management skills and modern approach to business.”
Owen’s experience as business owner and Silicon Valley CPA and IT professional also factored into D’Agostini’s endorsement. “Technology is moving at light speed, and Mike can keep up,” he said.
D’Agostini has served as the El Dorado County Sheriff since 2010.
“This endorsement is a very big honor, and I’m humbled by Sheriff D’Agostini’s confidence and support,” Owen said. “The same grass roots support and desire for reform that our county showed when they voted for our Sheriff in 2010 will pay off again when I’m elected.”
Owen is running to unseat 24-year incumbent Joe Harn in the June 5 election. During his last run for the position in 2014, Owen gathered 45 percent of the El Dorado County votes.
