Diane Dealey Neill, Secretary of the Amador El Dorado Forest Forum and the Executive Director of Forestry Educators Incorporated will be the guest speaker at the El Dorado County State of Jefferson meeting, on Tuesday, January 9th, at the American Legion Hall, 4561 Greenstone Road, Placerville.

Doors open at 5:30 pm and the meeting begins at 6:30 pm.

In 2011, Diane was the recipient of the Francis H. Raymond award, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to forestry in California.  After Diane's graduation from University of California, Davis, her expertise in plant protection & pest management, plant science and agronomy specializations, opened the door  to a number of career opportunities in California and Florida.

Currently, as coordinator of the Forestry Educators Incorporated, a non-profit corporation, Diane coordinated and created the Challenge, an academic competition for high school students. This 4-day, 3 night event,  uses hands-on experiences to teach technical forestry and forest management, participated by 3 to 5 student member teams.

Attendees will find Diane's knowledge extensive, regarding the history, policies and regulations that have impacted local economies and  overall management  of forests on private and public lands.  Concern has grown greater, recently due to fires and  increased tree mortality caused by recent drought years and bark beetle infestation of millions of trees, adding to the fuel load on forested lands.

Between the hours of 5:30 and 6:30, all are invited to visit with State of Jefferson committee members, while enjoying a hot meal, this month featuring a winter chicken stew, bread, cookies and beverages.

The State of Jefferson meetings are the second Tuesday of each month, same time and location. The meetings offer the opportunity to learn more about the Jefferson Movement and the court case that has been filed against the State of California, for lack of representation and dilution of vote.
