"Youth Mental Health First Aid, A Two Part Series" 
Thursday, January 11, 2018, 9am-1pm, And Thursday, January 18, 018, 9am-1pm
Location: Cameron Park Library, 2500 Country Club Drive, Cameron Park, in the meeting room.
 
Are you living or working with children or adolescents who may be struggling with a mental health condition, addiction or thoughts of suicide? Join us to learn about common mental health challenges, taking action and handling a crisis. How do you talk with a young person to show care and concern? Come learn about a five step action plan for helping a teen you care about. 

Our trainer is Stephanie Carlson from El Dorado County Behavioral Health
Topics we will address include:
-- Common mental health conditions: depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, substance use disorders, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.
-- Risk factors and protective factors
-- A five step action plan for crisis and non-crisis situations
-- Ways to promote resiliency and recovery
-- Communication skills for engaging youth

All participants will receive a workbook, training certificate and refreshments too!

Evening Monthly Meeting For Foster/Resource/Kinship Families
Thursday, January 11th, 2018

Location: El Dorado County Office of Education, 6767 Green Valley Rd., Placerville, Building B-1
All resource families: foster parents (FFA and county), kinship caregivers, and prospective Resource Families, are invited to this monthly meeting for support and resources. We will share challenges and successes, and hear about new resources and training opportunities. There will always be a training topic for which you will receive a certificate.  We will meet the second Thursday of the month.

Location: Department of Health and Human Services 3057 Briw Rd., Placerville, sign in at the window, then meet at the back of the lobby
All resource families: foster parents (FFA and county), kinship caregivers, and prospective Resource Families, are invited to this monthly meeting at CPS. The first half hour will be an opportunity to connect with the Resource Family Approval Unit, share challenges and successes, and hear about new resources and training opportunities. From 10:30-12pm there will be a training for which you will receive a certificate. Our topic this month: Educational Planning…do we help our children and youth get to success?

Crisis Intervention…January 25th
Supporting Transitions… February 1st
