Yesterday, El Dorado County Sheriff's Office conducted a search and rescue mission for an injured motorcycle rider in the area of Pack Saddle Pass of the El Dorado National Forest.
The rider had crashed on Sunday afternoon, injured his leg and was unable to walk.
After spending the night in the forest, he activated a personal locator beacon device summoning assistance through the International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC). EDSO was notified and provided with GPS coordinates of the injured rider.
Search and rescue teams were coordinated to the area and the rider was located at the GPS coordinates provided by IERCC.
With the assistance of the California HIghway Patrol Air Operations, the rider was hoisted out of the wilderness and transported by ground ambulance to the hospital.
